Unfortunately this is probably a compatibility problem related to the Consumer Electronics Control (CEC). Modern TV’s come with CEC which uses HDMI to send signals between connected devices. Most of the time there won’t be a problem because many TV’s and other additions such as Blue ray players are sold as bundle deals and will be the same brand.

CEC can go by many different names from brand to brand. Some examples include SimpLink, Anynet+, Bracia Sync, Aquos Link and EZ-Sync. There will be many more so it’s advisable to refer to your TV owners manual or do a quick search on Google to see what it is called on your TV.

Disabling the CEC on both the TV and box may help solve the problem. To disable it on the box you will have to connect it to another TV to disable the CEC function which can be found on the main settings page.
